SPRING!!

As spring begins to warm the days, I am thankful for the new life around our farm.  The tulips are poking through, the ducks are nesting and the peepers (frogs) are back in the pond.  It may seem silly, but I love this time of year.

I am also thankful for the new life our Lord and Saviour has given me.

Thankful for Friends!!

I know I may not always say it, but I am thankful for my friends in Christ.  I can't recite versus off the top of my head, but this I know. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"; and with the support of my friends and family I can get through anything.

Rosie Challenge # 2- JOHN 3

Just love how God blesses us with godly examples!  Rosie has certainly raised the bar for all of us, by memorizing & reciting the entire chapter of John 3!  Well done, good & faithful servant!!

Memorizing a 36 verse chapter is BIG CHALLENGE, but DOABLE, just one verse at a time and God will bless our perseverance!  You don't have to always start with the first verse, but can build around John 3:16, which many already know.  A "story" (historical account & conversation) is easier to memorize, too, because 'what comes next...' just comes naturally.

John Piper's advice on memorizing Scripture:  Read the first portion 10 times OUT LOUD, then repeat this portion 10 times without looking OUT LOUD, before moving on to the next portion.  (Saying the verses OUT LOUD will actually help you learn the verse correctly, because your ear will pick up on mistakes easily.  Whereas, skimming through the verse just in your mind, you won't pick up on when you have added words to your verse or have left out part of the verse.)  Daily review the previously learned portions, connecting them to the new verses being learned.

As iron sharpens iron. . .

May we memorize and truly love God's Perfect & Holy Word with all our hearts, so that we may LIVE it for His Glory!

HE IS RISEN!!!

HE IS RISEN, INDEED!!

In Christ Alone!

By Stuart Townend & Keith Getty

In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song.
This Cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease.
My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone, who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save.
Til on the Cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied.
For every sin on Him was laid, here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay, Light of the World, by darkness slain;
Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory, sin’s curse has lost it’s grip on me;
For I am His, and He is mine, bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me;
From life’s first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of Hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand
Til He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

No power of Hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from His hand
Til He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.

Amen!!!

Take the "Rosie Love " Challenge!!

As Valentine's Day approaches. . .

God used Rosie's recitation of  1 Corinthians 13, to remind us of what true godly LOVE is!!  Let's take the "Rosie Love" Challenge and also, memorize 1 Corinthians 13!!  Whether it takes a week, a month or a year to memorize the 13 verses, let us encourage one another to follow the example Rosie set for us.  (Log in and leave a message under "Reply" of this comment and we will have a fun time of helping keep each other encouraged and accountable!)

Here is a technique that helps memorize easier and quicker, because your mind will remember the letter combinations and colors, if you write each of the verses in different colors.  *Here is the disclaimer... the following is NIV, so you will have to change it for your translation.

1 Corinthians 13                                                 ( BHNL= But Have Not Love )

II  SITTOM  A  OA,  BHNL  IAOARG  O  ACC.

II  HTGOP  A  CFAM  A  AK,  A  IIHAF  TCMM,  BHNL,  IAN.

II  GAIP  TTP  A  SMB  TTF,  BHNL,  IGN.

LIP,  LIK.  IDNE,  IDNB,  IINP.

(LIP=Love Is Patient,   LIK=Love Is Kind.  IDNE= It Does Not Envy, IDNB=It Does Not Boast. . .)

IINR,  IINS-S,  IINEA,  IKNROW.

LDNDIE,  BR  WTT.

IAP,  AT,  AH,  AP.

LNF.  B  WTAP,  TWC;  WTAT,  TWBS;  WTIK,  IWPA.

FWKIP  A  WPIP,

BWPC,  TID.

WIWAC,  ITLAC,  ITLAC,  IRLAC,  WIBAM,  IPCWBM.

NWS  BAPR  AIAM;  TWSS  FTF.  NIKIP;  TISKF,  EAIAFK.

A  NTTR:  F,  H,  A  L.  BTG  OT  I  L.

  Looks odd, doesn't it??  But it really works!!  We have it written on a dry erase boad, using blue, red & green markers.  You can break down the words into any combinations you want. . . we always make "and" a fancy "A," leaving it by itself and we always leave the punctuation in, which helps with memorization/recitation.

So, are you up for taking the "Rosie Love" Challenge???
